North Carolina Justice Center
Project Director: Adam Searing, North Carolina Justice Center
Consumer Voices for Coverage Phase II is an extension of the Consumer Voices for Coverage national program funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. This new program provides resources to support local and state-based organizations that are well positioned to educate policy-makers and the public about the importance of reforming our health care system. This project focuses on two goals regarding national health reform. The first is to educate individuals and organizations throughout North Carolina on how state health reform efforts will work with and be enhanced by major national health reform in Washington. The second is to communicate messages regarding the importance of national health reform to a variety of audiences using multiple strategies, including a special focus on “new media” – blogs, short videos, and web publications.
As part of the CVC Phase II project, the North Carolina Justice Center holds community meetings around North Carolina to bring together North Carolinians interested in health reform, and also built a small business roundtable of independent small businesses focused on health reform options for them. They produce short videos on national health reform issues including commentary, interviews, Congressional members in action, and specific suggestions for change.
