Child & Family Policy Center, in partnership with the Iowa Policy Project

Project Director: Charles Bruner, Child & Family Policy Center, in partnership with the Iowa Policy Project

Consumer Voices for Coverage Phase II is an extension of the Consumer Voices for Coverage national program funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation. This new program provides resources to support local and state-based organizations that are well positioned to educate policymakers and the public about the importance of reforming our health care system. The specific goal of this project is to educate Iowa members of Congress, key stakeholders, and the public about the importance and viability of reforming the country’s health care system to provide stable, affordable, comprehensive, and evidence-based health coverage for all Americans. The project will engage in specific activities to reach this goal: outreach, coalition building, communication, media work, and policy synthesis.

As part of the CVC Phase II project, the Child and Family Policy Center and the Iowa Policy Project established themselves as key resources in their state on national health reform. Using the many contacts from their state work, they have built e-alert lists to provide updates, talking points, opportunities for action, and advocacy trainings throughout the state on national health reform. They built a blog for communicating with coalition members, Congressional staff, and other policy-makers.
