Health Care for All New York
Project Director: Elisabeth Ryden Benjamin
Health Care for All New York is the statewide Consumer Voices for Coverage project seeking to achieve a commitment to provide affordable and comprehensive health coverage to all New Yorkers by 2010. The project’s strategy is to develop a set of standards that puts all universal health coverage proposals through rigorous scrutiny, providing an easily digestible comparison scorecard for both consumers and policymakers. Through field offices with over 100,000 campaign members, the project will develop a rapid response system for responding to policymakers, stakeholders and the media, with the goal of consistently and credibly inserting the consumer perspective into New York’s universal coverage conversation.
Community Service Society of New York (CSS) is leading the Health Care for All New York initiative. CSS works to strengthen community life by conducting research, policy analysis, advocacy, and service initiatives to provide innovative solutions to the most urgent problems facing low-income New Yorkers.
The Health Care for All New York coalition is supported by a leadership team of organizations, including:
- American Cancer Society
- Center for Working Families
- Metro New York Health Care for All
- New Yorkers for Accessible Health Coverage
- New York Immigration Coalition
- Public Policy and Education Fund of New York
